Today's video: Singapore fumes over video of Brits mocking, stiffing elderly man

clipped from blogs.usatoday.com

Three British men thought it would be hilarious to film themselves mocking an elderly pedicab driver in Singapore and then post the footage on YouTube as the “the Slowest Taxi In SE Asia.”

Judging by the blog storm that this video spawned, just about the entire population of Singapore thought it wasn't funny, especially the part where they pretended that they didn't have any money and tried to skip out without paying the old man's $6.90 fee.

When the paper found the driver, Lee Shee Lam, 67, said he didn't realize the men were making fun of him while he peddled them across town. "They refused to pay, then they flagged a taxi and left," he is quoted as saying.

Here's a photo of the driver with a more grateful passenger. Here's a selection of comments:

Here's a collection of blog postings about the video.

What do you think?
But I think it's been blown out of proportion," the tabloid quotes the 26-year-old as saying. "Looking back, I think we were insensitive. But bullies, no," the paper says.
