Missing mayor resurfaces, resigns from office amid federal probe

Atlantic City Mayor Robert Levy has resigned after two weeks of rumors about his disappearance from city hall, according to the Associated Press. We first told you about the missing mayor last week.

Since then, his lawyer has revealed that the Vietnam veteran, who was caught lying about being a Green Beret, was being treated at a psychiatric hospital.  "The circumstances surrounding his resignation include multiple health problems but were precipitated by a pending Federal Department of Veterans Affairs investigation," attorney Edwin Jacobs says in a statement, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

"The pending investigation has called into question two of those awards, neither of which appear to be supported by an appropriate military order. This, in turn, creates a question as to a portion of Mr. Levy's Veterans disability benefits," Jacobs says.
